Flight of the Bumble Bee The Columbia River Packers Association a Century in the Pursuit of Fish 9780615548456 Books Reviews
A well researched and documented account of this company that coincides with the rise of the salmon canning and tuna industry in the Pacific Northwest. Ms. Martin has included numerous photographs as well as interview excerpts that add dimension to this fine work of local history. This book is well written and would make a fine addition to the library of anyone interested in the history of the Pacific NW. This book is currently available from Chinook Observer Publishing in Long Beach, Washington.
This is a pretty thorough history of the Columbia River Packers Association and their main brand, Bumble Bee Seafoods. It is very well illustrated with photographs and reproductions of various documents relating to the seafood canning industry in the Pacific Northwest. I know the writing project languished for some while after the untimely death of the first author, Roger Tetlow and I'm pleased to see it completed. I recommend it for readers and libraries/historical collections who have an interest in this area. I believe that copies can still be obtained from the Chinook Observer, in Ilwaco, WA, the publisher.
Glad to get a copy. Has some of my family history in it.
